Beat Feet Academy of Dance

Frequently Asked Questions

BEAT FEET ACADEMY OF DANCE - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO YOU OFFER A TRIAL?

Yes, we offer all pupils a 4 week pay as you go trial so they can try as many classes as they like and then decide which to continue with.

HOW DO I BOOK A PLACE?

Please complete the message form on the contact page. Alternatively you can get in touch on 07840 447 024 or julie@beatfeetdance.co.uk. We will send the link to our registration portal to you along with directions of where to go at the venue for your class (we use 3 different halls at one venue on Saturdays). You can also use the ‘registration portal for new customers’ button on our contact page if we have already discussed the best class for you.

CAN MY CHILD START STRAIGHT AWAY EVEN IF IT’S HALF WAY THROUGH A TERM?

Yes, you do not have to wait until the start of a term to join our classes however; some classes are full and have a waiting list so please get in touch using the details on our contact page so we can confirm availability for your chosen class.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR FOR THEIR FIRST CLASS?

It’s best for your child to wear something comfortable that they can move in. T-shirt, leggings, pumps or trainers are great. Bare feet are best for ballet and Acrobatics.

DO WE NEED TO BRING ANYTHING TO THE FIRST CLASS?

Please ensure that you have already completed the registration form and received confirmation that a place has been reserved for you. An invoice will be sent to you via email at this point so you can pay for the first class. Please bring a drink for your child (no fizzy drinks please - water is best). We encourage children to bring their water bottle into the class at the start of their lesson.

If you are attending a Baby Boppers class, please bring a doll or teddy with you which will be taken into the class with your child at the start of the class.

The Parent & Tots Bop class uses props and we will send you a list of items to bring when you register for a place. Alternatively, you can pre-order a props bag from Beat Feet if you find that easier.

DO YOU HAVE A WAITING AREA FOR PARENTS?

To reduce the risk of COVID-19 and the number of people in the building, Murray Park School have decided to temporarily close waiting areas. New Parents and Guardians are welcome to watch our classes through the windows or wait in the large free car park.

One Parent or Guardian is welcome to attend the Parent & Tots Bop class per student as the adults participate in this class with their child.

DO I NEED TO BOOK A PLACE IN A CLASS EACH TERM?

No, your place in a class is reserved for you long term so there is no need to re-book each term. Your place will only be given to someone else if you instruct us to do so.

HOW DO I PAY FOR CLASSES?

All payments are via bank transfer. You can find our account details on your invoice.

WHAT PAYMENT IS REQUIRED AFTER THE TRIAL?

After your 4 week pay as you go trial, fees are required in half term blocks. You will be sent an invoice via email at the start of each half term.

IS UNIFORM REQUIRED?

Yes, all uniform is available from the Academy. When you have completed your trial, you will be sent a link to book a free uniform fitting appointment (you can also find a button for this on the contact page). We will ensure that all items fit perfectly before you take them away. Uniform is not required for your trial or the Parent & Tots Bop class.

DO CLASSES RUN DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS?

No, our Academy follows the Derby City Council school terms and there are no classes during school holidays. We do however have holiday clubs and some exam practise sessions may be within the holidays.

DO YOU OFFER EXAMS?

Yes, we hold an ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) exam session each year for pupils who are ready to take Ballet, Modern Theatre or Tap exams. We also offer every pupil the opportunity to take medal award assessments each year in every dance genre.

DO YOU HAVE SHOWS?

Yes, each year we have a school show where pupils aged 2+ can perform on stage in front of an audience. There are also other performance opportunities throughout the year including our Choreography Competition and local fetes etc. These opportunities are not compulsory but are very beneficial for the children.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE CAN NO LONGER ATTEND THE CLASS AND NEED TO GIVE UP THE PLACE?

We hope you love our classes but if you can no longer attend just send an email to julie@beatfeetdance.co.uk to notify us of this change. Please note that 3 weeks written notice is required in this format.
