Peace of Mind

All staff have enhanced DBS checks and many are registered licensed chaperones with Derby City Council (which means they have been vetted by the children’s services department of our local authority and have passed many checks for suitability to work with children). There’s an extensive list of qualifications in the teaching team and most staff are registered first aiders too.

We are proud to be a Dance Den approved school. This initiative focuses on raising the standards within the performing arts industry. Schools who have been approved follow ethical and professional practices with the benefit of the children they teach at their heart. This is on top of being associates of many professional dance organisations including ISTD, IDTA, Acrobatic Arts, Alixa Flexibility and Zumba®.

Awards

Before Attending Your First Class

Before attending your first class:

• Please make sure that your child has been to the toilet before their class starts.
• Please bring a bottle of water for your child to take into their class.
• Please arrive on time for your class so that you don't miss the teacher collecting the class from the entrance of the building.
• Please arrive on time to collect your child to keep things running smoothly.
• If you need to speak to a member of the team, please message hello@beatfeetdance.co.uk so we can arrange a time for this to happen. The staff have duties to complete at classes and if they are faced with lots of questions, they will be unable to start the next class on time.
• Please do not attend the Academy if you have COVID-19.

Back To Back Classes

If your child has back to back classes (i.e. modern theatre at 12:30 - 1:00pm and ballet 1:00 - 1:30pm)in the same hall, they will remain inside the hall when the other children change over. This means thatyou will not need to be present to see them in and out of the session between this slot. If your childhas back to back classes but in different halls, it may be possible for a member of staff to accompanythem whilst moving between classes. Please get in touch to arrange this.

Payments

You are welcome to take advantage of a trial so your child can try as many different dance styles asthey would like to before selecting which ones they want to continue with. After the trial, fees are paid on 1st of every month (class fees are divided into 12 equal monthlypayments) on our autopay system. Please note that your first monthly payment will be of highervalue as it will include a 1 month deposit which covers your notice period payment. Please add yourpreferred debit or credit card to your Class Manager account and this will ensure payments arealways received on time.We hope you want to stay forever but if you find you can no longer commit, please notify us viaemail no later than the 15th day of the month so we can stop the next payment being taken.

Class Progressions

When a pupil enrols at the Academy, classes will be recommended for them based upon age.During the pupil’s trial, the teachers will assess the situation to ensure that these classes are thebest fit. Pupils will advance to the next level when they have mastered a required set of skills, steps,co-ordination and dance vocabulary, which will enable them to cope with a greater challenge in theirclasses. You will be notified when your child is ready for the next level or to take an exam.

Uniform

Uniform is required once a student has completed their trial at the Academy. This is to be purchased from the Academy so that we can ensure a good fit. Our uniform meets examination regulations for the ISTD. Please use the link below to select a free uniform fitting slot at Murray Park School. We have appointments available on Saturdays in the Cedar Park Hall and a uniform fitting assistant will be happy to help with your uniform requirements.

ShowThese dates can change in accordance to venue availability and other events that we are able toadd in (e.g. performing at Alton Towers).

Pupils are required to be of exam standard before entering an ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachersof Dancing) examination but all students (aged 2 years +) are encouraged to take part in the otherevents of which any standard can participate however, these events are not compulsory.

Beat Feet App

We have a free app available for Parents and Guardians to download. On there you will find lots of helpful information including dates for your diary, newsletters and our learning hub, which contains resources for pupils.

To get the app, please go to your app store and search for 'Stack Team App'. The logo is a red T on a white shield on top of a navy background. You will then be asked to register a couple of details (name, DOB & e- mail address). Once you are registered you can join our team!

Search on the app for Beat Feet Academy of Dance (you will be able to see our logo). You can then click to join and I can authorise you as part of our team so you can access all of the content.

Regular newsletters are also sent via email but many people have found it help to have all the information in one place.
